Anita Ekberg

Anita Ekberg is a Swedish actor from Sweden. Her roles were in a number of films as well as European as well as American. She is best known for playing the role of La Dolce Vita in an action-comedy film. The film premiered in 1960 and was given with the Golden Palm and an Oscar by the Cannes Film Festival. The film also received critically and commercial success. Born in Skane and began her career as models before launching the acting profession. She won in the Miss Sweden competition. She moved to the US after which she started appearing in various films as minor role. The first role she was credited with was in the film "Abbott & Costello Go to Mars', where she was a Venusian guard. In the same year she was awarded with the Golden Globe in the category of "Most Outstanding Newcomer," for her part in the film 'Blood Alley. Her films included numerous productions, including the American/Italian War drama War and Peace, the Western "Valerie," the British Crime Adventure film The Man Inside and the Italian/French drama The Dam on the Yellow River.' In 2015, she died at the age of 83.
